La Vaqueria is a small family run business situated on the outskirts of Benamargosa, tranquil and welcoming, the kettle is always on and there is usually a ready supply of home baked cakes on hand to refresh weary travellors!

La Vaqueria means quite literally “cowshed” and up until 12 years before I bought this large shed fresh milk could still be bought from here. Gradually we have been restoring and improving the property which now has a large art studio, gift shop,wood carving workshop, café & garden bistro.

I do take commissions in the studio and the Giftshop has a delightful selection of hand crafted bits and pieces for that little something different ...some of which may be personalised.

The latest addition is a large, varied and ever expanding stock of Craft products at very competitive prices, most of which are not available in anywhere else in Spain.

During the last two years the business has gradually grown to include a summer garden bistro on the lawn underneath the prettily lit avocado trees in July and August (check out the Food page for Take Away Menu).

We also keep a few animals living with us for you to look at and chat to! Everybody loves to see the horses, Escon & Lucky, and I can always find time to help our younger visitors pet them and feed the chickens.

As more and more people come to the centre we have striven to expand making visiting us an enjoyable and interesting experience.

Do drop in for that special something, crafts supplies (now the largest outlet in Andalucia) or simply enjoy a mid- morning slice of cake or snack. We are always looking forward to meeting you.

Opening Hours

  Tuesday - Saturday 10am - 3pm
